A message to Mr. Garcia
Today in class we read it A Message to Mr.Garcia. I think the most relevant thing that stood out to me was the need for someone who was dedicated to a task. To me, it seemed that the author was trying to convey a lack of people who were willing to work without question. Many people looked for work but were unwilling to put in the to a task. The letter in this story is a significant document needs to be crossed through enemy lines. It was a grueling task but without complaint, Rowan completed it and without objection to authority. The latter part of the story is about people who do not dedicate themselves fully to their work. Including the frustration of the Hubbert to people in society who do not pull their weight. I have appreciated the frustration of Hubbard but empathize with the people found in the story. From an outside perspective, it is hard to see why the lackluster behavior in the work place is such an irritation. Furthermore in my experience, when faced with a situation of hard work it is easier to simply not do it. It seems to me that Hubbard was concerned about how society was lackluster in the workplace. His level of concern made him sound angry through his writing style.
The story is about how a man Rowan must deliver a letter to across the battle field. He had to face many obstacles and didn't give up or ask questions to his authority. This is an example of not only bravery but a dedicated worker. The second part of the story outlines people who do their jobs poorly. Men who question the everyday tasks they are chosen to complete seems to anger, Mr.Hubbard.
Unfortunately, the patterns in this story relate to society as a whole right now. Labor induced jobs are in high demand but very few people take these jobs even though they pay highly. Computers, networking, and social media have made us a very lazy society. Also, my generation uses has lost a respect for authority and speak back when asked minimal tasks.
5 Point Action Plan:
1.Get an A in math, so that I can move up to advanced geometry next year.
2.Make Varsity Lax
3.Go to sleep by 11 every night.
4.Run for class president.
5.Get first or second honors.
