What Cleisthenes did was a huge step forward getting "regular input" involved in governing but this first democracy had its limited citizens could participate but only one-fifth of Athenian were citizens. After several years Athenians practiced a direct democracy. Direct Democracy: -It's where the state is ruled by its citizens -rules is based on citizenship -majority rule decides the vote -it was first practiced in Athens under Cleisthenes by around 500 BCE.
